A Car Plowed Through Michael Brown's Memorial

Someone ran over Michael Brown's Memorial with their car and didn't stop, leaving a trail of what a Ferguson police officer has called "trash" and not an act of vandalism.

According to an eye witness, the driver did it intentionally and they caught the act on video.

Ferguson police responded to the incident in an unsurprising manner by not showing a bit of concern or empathy toward the degrading act.

The Ferguson Police public relations officer Tim Zoll told The Washington Post "I don’t know that a crime has occurred, but a pile of trash in the middle of the street? The Washington Post is making a call over this?”

Zoll has since denied his statement and said he was "misquoted."

He didn't expect his comments to go viral on social media and cause a backlash.

I guarantee he also didn't expect social media to help protesters who were at the site call for action to clean up the memorial.

It only took minutes for people to use Twitter to respond to what had happened while the police didn't even bother to look into the matter.

I have heard that the protesters in Ferguson are a violent and hostile bunch who hate the police and are anti-establishment.

How true does all of that ring when they do something like this?

I applaud them for staying strong by keeping calm. I am certain if Dr. King was alive he would feel the same way about these protesters who did not use their energy to commit vengeance, but instead reconstruction of a symbol of respect for a slain young man.

They organized peacefully and rebuilt the memorial. If a car comes again, and believe me it just might, they will rebuild it again. That in itself is a peaceful demonstration that speaks, no shouts to the rest of the world about what is really going on and who the victims really are.
